Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Jake's Tech Labs collects, why we need it, which service providers help us operate, and the choices you have. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Effective July 13, 2026
1. Who we are and what this covers
Jake's Tech Labs is an educational website operated by Jake Hulberg in the United States. This policy applies to jakestechlabs.com, learner accounts, newsletters, paid Resume Review and Tech Career Coaching, and communications related to those services.
It does not replace the privacy policies of third-party websites you choose to visit. Questions and privacy requests may be sent to [email protected].
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information:email address, account identifiers, email-verification status, and account preferences. Supabase processes your password; Jake's Tech Labs does not receive or store the readable password.
- Newsletter information: email address, signup source, and subscription or unsubscribe status.
- Paid-service information: service purchased, order references, price and currency information, payment and refund status, intake status, and the policy versions associated with the purchase. Stripe processes payment-card and wallet details; we do not store full card numbers or security codes.
- Resume Review information: the resume you submit, intake answers, target roles, career context, and communications needed to provide and deliver feedback.
- Coaching information: intake answers, goals, scheduling details, attendance status, and service communications. We do not intentionally create detailed coaching-session notes for long-term storage.
- Support information: messages, requests, and other information you choose to send us.
Information created when you use the site
- Learning activity: for signed-in learners, lab progress, completion, and bookmarked steps.
- Practice data: many lab notes, checklists, and practice answers are saved only in your browser. When you select “Check answers,” the applicable answers are sent to our server for grading and a correct/incorrect result is returned; the application does not add those answers to your account record.
- Technical and security data: IP address, device and browser information, request timestamps, referring pages, cookies, and diagnostic or security events that may be generated by our hosting, network, authentication, and payment providers.
Please minimize sensitive information
Do not include Social Security numbers, government identifiers, financial credentials, passwords, medical details, or other information that is not needed for Resume Review or Coaching. Remove reference contact details and other third-party personal information unless you have permission and it is genuinely needed.
3. How we use information
We use personal information for the following purposes:
- Create, secure, authenticate, and support learner accounts.
- Save lab progress and provide account features you request.
- Process purchases, prevent duplicate or fraudulent transactions, and maintain order records.
- Collect intake, provide Resume Review or Coaching, schedule sessions, and deliver the purchased service.
- Send account, security, payment, intake, scheduling, delivery, and support messages.
- Send newsletters only through the separate subscription path and honor unsubscribes.
- Operate, troubleshoot, secure, measure, and improve the website and customer flow.
- Handle refunds, disputes, accounting, tax records, legal requests, and enforcement of our Terms.
Jake's Tech Labs may use generative-AI tools to assist with paid services, including analyzing submitted materials and organizing or drafting feedback. Relevant portions of resumes or intake answers may therefore be processed by third-party AI providers. All final feedback is reviewed by Jake before delivery.
4. When information is shared
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose information only as needed for the purposes below.
| Provider or category | What it does |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Authentication, account sessions, learner progress, and order records. |
| Stripe | Checkout, payment processing, receipts, refunds, disputes, fraud prevention, and tax-related payment data. |
| Tally | Paid-service intake forms and Resume Review file uploads. |
| Resend and business email providers | Account, transactional, service-delivery, and support email. |
| Kit | Optional newsletter subscription and unsubscribe management. |
| Calendly and its video-call integrations | Coaching scheduling and meeting access. |
| Vercel and Cloudflare | Hosting, content delivery, network security, request processing, and operational logs. |
| Business document tools | Access-controlled delivery of a completed Resume Review when used. |
| Generative-AI providers | Assist with analyzing customer-provided materials and preparing paid-service feedback, subject to human review. |
| Zapier and Google Workspace | Legacy order coordination during the documented transition away from the prior paid-service workflow. These providers will be removed from the live transaction path after cutover. |
| Professional advisers and authorities | Legal, accounting, insurance, fraud, safety, or compliance needs when reasonably necessary. |
Providers process information under their own terms and privacy notices. We may also disclose information to protect users or the service, investigate misuse, comply with valid legal process, or as part of a business reorganization where appropriate safeguards apply.
5. Cookies, local storage, and tracking choices
We use cookies necessary for authentication, security, rate limiting, and interface operation. The site also uses browser local storage for theme preference and some lab notes, practice answers, and checklist state. Local-storage content stays on that browser unless a feature clearly tells you otherwise, and you can remove it through the site's controls or your browser settings.
We do not currently use advertising pixels or cross-site targeted advertising. Some infrastructure providers may create operational logs or use necessary cookies under their own policies. Because there is no uniform industry response to the legacy “Do Not Track” browser signal, the site does not respond differently to that signal. We honor legally required opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control, when they apply; because we do not sell or share information for targeted advertising, such a signal does not currently change those practices.
6. Retention and deletion
We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose described, security, disputes, and applicable recordkeeping duties. Our general retention approach is:
- Account and learner-progress data: while the account is active, then deleted or de-identified following a verified deletion request, subject to the exceptions below.
- Detailed Tally intake answers and uploaded resumes: while needed to provide the service and for a short period afterward to resolve delivery questions, then removed from active systems. You may request earlier deletion after delivery.
- Minimal payment, order, tax, consent, and accounting records: as long as reasonably needed for accounting, refunds, disputes, fraud prevention, or legal obligations.
- Support and service-delivery communications: while reasonably useful to provide support, document delivery, or resolve a dispute.
- Newsletter information: until you unsubscribe; we may retain the minimum suppression record needed to honor the unsubscribe.
- Routine application and security logs: for a limited operational period, with relevant records kept longer when needed to investigate an incident.
- Browser-local practice information: until you clear it, clear site data, or remove the browser profile.
Deletion from active systems may not immediately remove limited copies from encrypted backups or provider recovery systems. Those copies may remain until overwritten under a provider's backup and recovery schedule and are not used for ordinary business purposes. We may retain or de-identify information when reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, security, taxes, accounting, refunds, disputes, enforcing agreements, or complying with law.
7. Your choices and requests
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with you. You may also unsubscribe from marketing through the link in a newsletter or by contacting us. Transactional messages needed for an account or active purchase are separate from marketing.
Email a request to [email protected] from the address associated with your account. Describe the request and the relevant account or order. We may ask for reasonable verification and may deny or limit a request when we cannot verify it or when retention is permitted or required for security, fraud prevention, accounting, disputes, or law. We will explain a material denial and provide any appeal method required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
8. Children and teenagers
Jake's Tech Labs is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not create an account, join the newsletter, or submit personal information. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Users who are 13 through 17 may use free educational features only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. Paid services and Coaching participants are limited to adults age 18 or older for V1.
A parent or guardian who believes a child provided information may contact us at [email protected].
9. Security and incident response
We use administrative and technical measures appropriate to this service, including managed authentication, encrypted connections, access controls, environment separation, provider-signature checks, restricted administrative access, and data minimization. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach creates a legal notification duty, we will provide required notices in accordance with applicable law.
10. United States operation
The site and paid services are operated from the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our providers operate. Availability of paid services may vary by location.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when services, providers, or legal obligations change. We will post the new effective date and version here. If a change materially affects how we use information already collected, we will provide additional notice when appropriate. The Terms applicable to a completed purchase are not silently replaced by a later version.
12. Contact
