Terms of Service

These Terms set the ground rules for learner accounts and explain exactly what customers receive, when work begins, and when a paid service can be canceled, rescheduled, or refunded.

1. Agreement and operator

These Terms are an agreement between you and Jake Hulberg, operating Jake's Tech Labs (“Jake's Tech Labs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They apply to jakestechlabs.com, learner accounts, labs and educational materials, Resume Review, and Tech Career Coaching.

By using the site, you agree to follow the account, content, and acceptable-use rules below. A paid purchase requires affirmative acceptance of the Terms presented in Stripe Checkout. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. If you do not agree, do not use the applicable feature or purchase a service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 to create an account. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use free educational features only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. Paid services may be purchased and used only by an adult age 18 or older who can enter a binding agreement. We do not offer paid Resume Review or private Coaching to minors in V1.

The site is not directed to children under 13. Do not create an account or submit information for a child under 13.

3. Accounts and security

Provide an accurate email address and keep it available for account and service communications.
Keep your password and account access confidential. Do not share an account or allow another person to impersonate you.
Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you believe an account or purchase was accessed without permission.
You are responsible for activity conducted through your account unless it resulted from our failure to use reasonable safeguards.

4. Educational site and acceptable use

Labs and educational materials are provided for personal learning. You may follow, adapt, and use examples for your own lawful education and projects. Unless we expressly say otherwise, you may not republish a lab as your own course, sell access to our content, scrape or bulk-copy the site, bypass access controls, interfere with service operation, or use the site to violate law or another person's rights.

Do not probe production systems, submit malicious code, abuse forms or APIs, attempt unauthorized access, or use labs against systems you do not own or have permission to test. Examples involving security or administration must be used only in authorized environments.

5. Paid services generally

Payment is due in full at checkout. Prices are shown before purchase and may change prospectively.
Stripe processes payment. You authorize the displayed charge and are responsible for applicable taxes or currency-conversion terms shown at checkout.
Each Checkout Session is a separate order. Tell us promptly about a duplicate or unauthorized charge.
Service communications and deliverables go to the verified email associated with the purchasing account unless we agree otherwise in writing.
We may pause fulfillment while a payment dispute, suspected fraud, account-ownership concern, or material Terms violation is investigated.

Paid services are delivered from the United States. Availability may vary by location. Nothing in these Terms removes mandatory rights that cannot lawfully be waived where you live.

6. Resume Review

Resume Review includes the written feedback described on the purchase page. It does not include a live call, a done-for-you rewrite, recruiter outreach, application submission, job placement, or ongoing revision rounds unless we expressly agree in writing.

The advertised three-to-five-business-day delivery window begins only after all three readiness conditions are met: payment is confirmed, a valid intake is received, and a usable resume is uploaded. We may ask reasonable follow-up questions before the order is ready. Weekends and U.S. federal holidays are not business days.

Personalized review work begins when we move the ready order into active review, not merely when you pay or upload a file. We will notify you if an unexpected delay is likely to affect the promised window.

7. Tech Career Coaching

Coaching includes one private 60-minute video call covering the scope described on the purchase page. It does not include a written Resume Review, ongoing coaching, recruiter outreach, application submission, job placement, or follow-up calls unless we expressly agree in writing.

Complete the intake before booking and use the email associated with the purchasing account. A booking made for an unmatched email may be canceled until ownership is confirmed. Join on time with a functioning internet connection and compatible device. Late arrival does not extend the scheduled end time.

Calls are not recorded by Jake's Tech Labs. Do not record a call without the advance consent of everyone participating.

8. Refunds, cancellations, and rescheduling

Resume Review

You may request a full refund before personalized review work begins.
After personalized review work begins, the order is non-refundable except where law requires otherwise, the charge was duplicated or unauthorized, we cannot provide the promised deliverable, or we miss the promised delivery window and you decline a reasonable disclosed extension.
If required intake and a usable resume are not received within 60 days after purchase despite reasonable reminders, we may cancel the unstarted order and issue a full refund.

Coaching

Before a session is booked, you may request a full refund.
After booking, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled start to choose a full refund or one no-cost reschedule.
A cancellation within 24 hours, a no-show, or a substantially late arrival is non-refundable, except where law requires otherwise. We may offer a courtesy reschedule based on the circumstances, but it is not guaranteed.
If we cancel, you may choose a prompt full refund or a mutually acceptable rescheduled time.
If no session is booked within 60 days after purchase despite reasonable reminders, we may cancel the unfulfilled order and issue a full refund.

How refunds work

Email [email protected] from the purchasing account and include the order reference. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method. We generally issue them within five business days; your bank or payment provider may take an additional five-to-ten business days to display the credit. These rules do not limit non-waivable consumer rights.

9. Your submissions and confidentiality

You retain ownership of your resume, intake answers, and other original material. You give us a limited, non-exclusive license to receive, store, reproduce, review, annotate, and share that material with our service providers only as reasonably needed to provide, secure, and support the purchased service. This license ends when the material is deleted, except for limited records lawfully retained under the Privacy Policy.

You represent that you have the right to submit the material and that doing so does not violate confidentiality, privacy, intellectual property, employment, or other obligations. Do not submit Social Security numbers, government identifiers, financial credentials, passwords, medical information, protected employer information, or unnecessary third-party personal information.

We use reasonable safeguards and limit access to customer material, but email, file hosting, and internet transmission cannot be guaranteed absolutely confidential or secure. Report a suspected exposure promptly so it can be investigated.

10. No guaranteed outcome or professional relationship

Labs, Resume Review, and Coaching are educational services based on Jake's experience and judgment. Results depend on factors outside our control. We do not guarantee interviews, employment, offers, promotions, compensation, certification results, admissions, or any other career outcome.

We are not acting as your employer, recruiter, staffing agency, attorney, accountant, financial adviser, therapist, or mental-health professional. You remain responsible for applications, interviews, career and financial decisions, verification of information, and compliance with employer or platform rules.

11. Our content and feedback

The site, lab text, original graphics, branding, and other materials we create are owned by Jake's Tech Labs or used with permission. These Terms give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license for personal, noncommercial learning and use of your purchased deliverable.

You may describe your experience honestly. If you voluntarily provide a suggestion about the site, we may use the suggestion without payment, but we will not publish your name, resume, testimonial, or identifiable service result for marketing without separate permission.

12. Third-party services

The service relies on third parties such as Supabase, Stripe, Tally, Calendly, email, hosting, and video-conferencing providers. Their own terms and privacy notices apply to their services. We are responsible for choosing and configuring providers reasonably, but we do not control every interruption or change they experience. We will make a reasonable effort to provide an alternative or appropriate remedy when a provider failure prevents us from delivering a paid service.

13. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the site at any time and may request account deletion as described in the Privacy Policy. We may restrict or terminate access for fraud, security risk, unauthorized access, unlawful conduct, harassment, abuse of the service, infringement, or a material breach of these Terms. When we terminate an unfulfilled paid service for reasons other than your fraud or material breach, we will refund the undelivered portion. Terms that logically survive termination—including payment, ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute provisions—remain effective.

14. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the free site and educational content are provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, error-free content, or that a lab or recommendation will be suitable for every environment. This section does not disclaim an express service commitment stated in these Terms or rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither Jake's Tech Labs nor Jake Hulberg will be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, opportunities, data, or goodwill arising from the service. Our total liability for an ordinary claim will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us for the affected service during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These limits do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence where it cannot be limited, infringement by us, or any liability or consumer remedy that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.

16. Responsibility for misuse

You are responsible for claims, losses, or reasonable costs caused by your intentional unlawful use of the service, material breach of the acceptable-use rules, or submission of material you had no right to provide. This responsibility does not apply to losses caused by our own misconduct and does not require you to defend claims better controlled by us without reasonable notice and cooperation.

17. Disputes and governing law

Before filing a formal claim, contact us with a concise description and requested resolution. We will try in good faith to resolve the issue informally within 30 days. These Terms are governed by Illinois law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to any mandatory forum right you cannot waive, claims may be brought in a state or federal court with jurisdiction in Illinois. Nothing here prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief or using an eligible small-claims process.

18. Changes and general terms

We may update these Terms prospectively by posting a new version and effective date. Material changes apply after appropriate notice and do not silently rewrite the version accepted for a completed purchase. If any provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions continue. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer your account or paid service without permission; we may assign these Terms in connection with a legitimate transfer of the business or service.

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, the purchase-page description, and any written service-specific agreement are the complete agreement concerning the covered service. A service-specific written term controls over a conflicting general term for that service.
