Step 1: Download Template

Start with a clean, ATS-safe template so you can focus on content (organization, quantification, iteration) — not formatting.

Downloads
Grab the core assets for this workshop. Use the template as your base, then refine it across the next steps.

ATS-friendly, clean formatting, easy to edit.
Example Resume (Sanitized)
A reference example you can compare against while you build your own.

Quick note

Keep formatting simple: no columns, no graphics, no icons. Your advantage comes from structure and content — not design.

How to use the template

  1. Download the DOCX template and save a copy with your name (e.g., Jake_Hulberg_Resume.docx).
  2. Fill in your basic sections quickly (don’t overthink wording yet).
  3. As you go through Steps 2–10, keep iterating and tightening. Expect multiple passes.
  4. Export to PDF only at the end (final step), not while you’re still drafting.

What you’ll have by the end of this step

  • A clean resume file you’ll build on throughout the workshop
  • An example resume to benchmark structure and density
